The year 2020 has already seen two Chandra Grahan and one Surya Grahan and now the fourth eclipse of the year is expected to occur on the night of July 5. India will witness another lunar eclipse or Chandra Grahan on 5 July 2020. It will be a penumbral lunar eclipse. There are three types of Lunar Eclipse- total, partial, and penumbral. The lunar eclipse on July 5 will be penumbral, which means the sun, earth, and moon will align in an almost straight line.
A lunar eclipse occurs when moon moves into the Earth’s shadow, this happens when Sun, Earth and Moon are exactly or very closely aligned in a straight line. The penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when Earth’s outer shadow falls on the moon’s surface.
