Why is it important to thank her:
It’s essential to thank her for giving us life. Mother is the first friend, guru, torchbearer, mentor and guide therefore it is important acknowledge her efforts and make her feel special.
The origin of Mother’s Day:
It is believed that the Mother’s Day celebration originated in the USA in 1908. It started when in West Virginia a woman Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew’s Methodist Church. Anna did this as her mother had expressed a desire that after her death a memorial should be held. It was those days when the First World War was going on. To fulfill her mother’s desire Anna also created a Mother’s Day Club to address the health issues of wounded soldiers.
Nine years after the memorial, the then US President Woodrow Wilson declared second Sunday of every May as Mother’s Day.
