Five pilots of national carrier Air India and two staffers of the Air India Engineering Services Limited have been tested COVID-19 positive, as per the airline sources.
These Mumbai-based pilots had operated cargo flights between Guangzhou and Delhi carrying medical supplies and equipments, but as per the airline the COVID positive crew has not been exposed to the deadly virus while on duty. The airline says that the crew operated the flight to Guangzhou 20 days ago.
Air India has been operating cargo flights to International destinations since the lockdown. According to the sources, the pilots tested positive during the pre-flight COVID test which is carried out 72 hours prior to being rostered for flight duties.
