Airline management to build positive atmosphere in the work culture; yoga at Bengaluru ashram
Air India has adopted a new way to deal with the stressed minds of its new lot of pilots and cabin crew. In order to build and inculcate a positive and healthy atmosphere the national carrier has introduced yoga lessons for all new recruits.
While the cabin crew and pilots have already started their training from today (June 1) the Maharaja will also be sending its senior officials to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Art of Living ashram in Bengaluru. The yoga sessions for senior management officials will be held later in June.
All newly-recruited pilots and cabin crew have to undergo yoga classes every morning at 6 am. Sources from AI share that the idea of organizing yoga sessions initiated from the department of personnel at AI.
A senior official from AI calls it a very positive move. “Yoga will teach them the way to remain stress-free. The crew will also inculcate a habit of discipline,” the official said. It must not be forgotten that in the last few months many flights of AI have been delayed due to late reporting of pilots and cabin crew.
Also keeping in mind the Germanwings Airbus 320 crash in the French Alps while traveling from Barcelona to Duesseldorf due to depression and mental agony of the pilot, the AI is likely to make yoga a compulsory programme for new employees.
Recently AI enrolled 78 new pilots and 300 cabin crew to augment its staff, mostly pilots and crew on-board. read original story in governancenow
