This is the first time that the country has registered over 30,000 patients in 24 hours.
India’s coronavirus tally today morning mounted to 9.68 lakh cases after 32,695 new patients were registered in the last 24 hours. It is country’s biggest single-day jump in fresh infections, the Union Health Ministry said this morning. The death toll climbed to 24,915 with 606 fatalities recorded in a single day, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
6,12,814 patients till date have recovered from the deadly virus, while there are 3,31,146 active cases of coronavirus infection presently in the country. The recovery rate is 63.25 per cent.
India is the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic after the United States and Brazil.
As per the Ministry, Maharashtra, the worst-affected state, has a total of 2,75,640 COVID-19 cases and 10,928 fatalities followed by Tamil Nadu (1.51 lakh) and Delhi (1.16 lakh cases).
States that recorded the highest number of new infection in the last 24 hours are: Maharashtra (7,975), Tamil Nadu (4,496), Karnataka: (3,176), Andhra Pradesh (2,432) and Uttar Pradesh (1,659).
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has tested 1,27,39,490 samples for COVID-19 till July 15, of these 3,26,826 samples were tested yesterday.
