Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today. In his speech he said that the timely decisions and measures have played a great role in handling coronavirus. He said, “In comparison to other countries, India is still in a very stable situation, in the battle against COVID-19”.
In his address PM modi reminded the citizens of the country to adhere strictly to the national directives in force during the coronavirus outbreak. He said that use of face masks while in public is mandatory, people without mask need to be stopped and made aware of the problem. PM modi in his address to the nation said that a lot of people have started taking the directives leniently since Unlock1.
“We notice that there has been a negligence on people’s social and personal behaviour. Like the way we used to meticulously wash hands, used sanitisers, wore masks, maintained social distancing and avoided shaking hands… we see that that is not happening as strictly anymore. That is a sign of worry. This is a serious matter, and we must ensure that we maintain the discipline,” PM Modi.
He said, nobody is above the law in India, even the leader of the country.
PM Modi addressed the nation as Unlock-I phase came to an end. He requested the citizens of the nation to be more vigilant as the rainy reason has arrived and people will be more prone to diseases.
He even said that negligence by people in their social and personal behaviour is commonly witnessed. Washing hands, using sanitisers, wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and avoid shaking hands are a few very important things. The discipline needs to be followed to keep Covid-19 at bay.
Prime minister said that the government is working round the clock to ensure that people get the support they need in this time of crisis. About Gareeb Kalyan Rozgar Yojna, he said that in last few months, farmers have got a total of Rs 18,000 crore directly in their bank accounts. The yojana is also launched for migrants. About 80 crore people have also got 5 kg ration for free and 1 kg of dal (cereal) per month free of cost. The scheme will provide 80 crore people with 5 kg free ration and 1 kg dal (cereal) per month till the end of November as festivals such as Chhath and Diwali will be falling in these months. He said that the government plans to spend Rs 90,000 crore on expanding the free ration scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana, till November. PM also mentioned One Nation One Ration Card scheme to benefit migrant workers and their families who had no fixed home or income.
The number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed 5.6 lakh mark.
