This “Shravan” there will be no Kanwar Yatra in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to an official release issued on Saturday, The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath decided this during a video conference with Haryana and Uttarakhand Chief Ministers, M L Khattar and Trivendra Singh Rawat. The decision is taken to suspend the annual Kanwar yatra.
As per the release the chief ministers decided this as the religious gurus and kanwar sanghs in their respective states proposed and suggested to suspend the yatra in view of COVID-19.
The Police officials in Uttar Pradesh have also been directed by the CM to hold a dialogue with kanwar sanghs, religious leaders and peace committees.
As per the direction not more than 5 people can be present at a time for “jalabhishek” at the local temples.
