The aviation ministry of India has a new secretary now who on the very first day of his joining took a marathon five-hour-long review of the ailing national carrier.
After taking over the charge on Saturday, the new aviation secretary R N Choubey did his first review meeting with Air India officials. Sources reveal that the meeting was very productive which has given hopes to the AI officials for the turnaround of the cash-strapped carrier.
A senior official from Air India shares, “After seeing the new secretary we have a hope of the revival of sinking airline”. The sources reveal that the current government at the centre has a lot of expectations from the new aviation secretary.
Officials from the ministry say, “The first thing the new secretary wanted to do was to meet the officials from AI to get the clearer picture of the whole issue. The entire details were shared with him. He has promised that the revival will soon be done”.
It is assumed that the government has decided on Chaubey as the new secretary because soon turbulent AI will have more administrative issue. The current CMD of AI Rohit Nandan is going to be empaneled as a secretary soon and his replacement has not been decided yet.
Officials from the cash-crunched carrier anticipate a better ride ahead. They say, “Our woes have not been heard till date we expects positive moves from the new secretary”.
The expectations and burdens on the ailing maharaja is too high but the new secretary is expected to find the way out. AI, at present, is struggling for it’s survival and has already asked the government for Rs 1,777 crore to sustain itself.
