Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat, 50-year-old, has died in a Hyderabad hospital due to multiple organ failure. Kamat was believed to have been suffering from chronic liver disease. Several Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express grief over the demise of the filmmaker.
The director who is accredited with movies like Madaari and Drishyam lost his battle to liver cirrhosis. Kamat had been hospitalized in Hyderabad a few days back and was in a critical condition.
Actor-friend Riteish Deshmukh, who was constantly updating fans about Nishikant’s condition, quashing rumours of his death while he was still battling for life.
After Kamat’s demise, Riteish, who starred in Kamat’s film Lai Bhaari tweeted, “I will miss you my friend Nishikant Kamat. Rest in peace”.

Ajay Devgn, who starred in Nishikant Kamat’s Drishyam, tweeted: “My equation with Nishikant was not just about Drishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon. RIP Nishikant.”

John Abraham who did Kamat’s films like Force and Rocky Handsome, shared pictures with the late director and tweeted: “Will not get over this …. Rest In Peace.”

Kamat was hospitalised for jaundice and abdominal distention on August 12, and was later diagnosed with chronic liver disease.
Kamat, 50, made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Dombivali Fast in 2005. His Bollywood debut was Mumbai Meri Jaan, also starring Irrfan.
