A five-storey building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Monday. At least 15 people were injured and around 70 feared trapped under debris after a multi-storey residential building in Maharashtra’s Raigad district collapsed. Around 250 people were staying in the building which had 47 flats. The building constructed in 2011, started trembling at 6 pm, leading to the collapse of the pillars.
Three teams of National Disaster Response Force have been sent to the spot from Pune. The disaster management authority said the incident took place around 6.50 pm in the Kajalpur area of the district, which has been receiving heavy rainfall for past few days.
Three rescue teams, armed with specialised equipment and sniffer dogs, have been deployed to the scene of the accident.
Home Minister Amit Shah called the accident ‘tragic’ and he wrote he has spoken to the Director General of the disaster response force to provide all possible assistance.
