The Districts Administration Gurugram has issued an advisory for senior citizens under which they are advised certain do’s and don’ts related to covid-19. Due to pandemic caused by coronavirus senior citizens are advised to stay within the house and avoid gathering along with avoiding to have any visitor at home. As senior citizens have low immunity they are advised to maintain a distance of 1 metre which is essential for any meetings. They are suggested to take help from neighbours for acquiring essentials. While they are advised to be within the house they are also told to remain active and mobile within the house and do light exercise and yoga at home in order to strengthen their immunity. Along with washing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds they should frequently clean touched objects like spectacles. To keep the disease at bay they should sneeze and cough into tissue paper or handkerchief and dispose them in a closed bin. The advisory says that the senior citizens must eat home cooked, nutritious food, hydrate frequently and drink fresh juices to boost immunity. If they are already suffering from any disease they should not miss the daily prescribe medicines, monitor their health and contact the nearest hospital if there is a symptom of fever cough or difficulty in breathing. The advisory issued by the district administration clearly defines the don’ts under which the senior citizens are advised not to come in close contact with someone who has symptoms of coronavirus and strictly avoid shaking hands and hug each other. During the lock down period they are are advised to avoid going to crowded places, not to cough or sneeze into bare hands, not to touch the eyes face and nose. Self medicate is something they should never do. As per the advisory the district administration gurugram suggest the senior citizens not to go to hospital for routine checkup or follow up. The senior citizens are advised not to invite any family members and friends at home.
