The Children of Park View City 1, Gurgaon celebrated World Conservation Day (28 July) by a plantation drive. They gathered on Sunday morning to carry out a plantation drive with a difference to protect saplings for years. Together they planted over 200 saplings of medicinal and flowering plants bearing the names of the children who participated and took a pledge to look after them. The drive took place inside the PVC 1 society.
The plantation drive was organized by the members of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA). The drive was supported by the presence of Haryana Forest Minister Rao Narbir Singh. He appreciated the initiative and said “This is a good initiative to create awareness in children about the importance of plants. Greenery around us gives us a sense of wellbeing.”
Anil Arora, the president of RWA said, “It is an effort to increase the green cover as the temperature is soaring day by day. We all need to work in this direction so that the pollution level is curtailed”.
Vivek Sanghi, a resident, said “It is rightly said that the seeds to be a sensitive and generous human should be planted in the childhood itself. The children of today need to be made kind and thoughtful towards nature so that the future is safe. This is the best way to make them a sensitive human being”.
Seeing the efforts of children people of all ages gathered to lend a helping hand. Rudransh Singh, a Class 4 student in Lotus Valley International School seemed very enthusiastic. He said, “I am so happy to plant trees here. It will help reduce pollution and we will be able to breath in fresh air.”
Ritesh Yadav, RWA secretary enthusiastically said, “Participation by so many kids is an eye-opener. This would definitely encourage others to come forward and serve mother nature. ”
