There is no doubt that the green tea has more health benefits than black tea because of the ways they are processed. Because of lack of processing the green has higher contents of polyphenols. The major polyphenols in green tea are flavonoids. Two major flavonoids are catechins and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). These two work as most powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants, as you know, are helpful in protecting the body against disease. Due to the presence of catechins and EGCG green tea is treated as a good source of antioxidant.
Too much of caffeine content is harmful to those who are sensitive to it, so one needs to avoid intake of green tea too many times a day. Green tea contains caffeine but the right quantity of intake varies from person to person. Because of its caffeine content green tea does act as a stimulant but it has a little less content of caffeine than the same amount of coffee will have. Those who are sensitive to caffeine should avoid too much of green tea as it may disrupt sleep patterns.
